To celebrate Easter Sunday, Aled Jones presents a special Songs of Praise from St George's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Southwark, south London. The cathedral is home to a thriving community representing over 140 different nationalities, and Aled joins the packed congregation for uplifting Easter hymns. Aled meets the cathedral dean, Canon Michael Branch, to reflect on the meaning of Easter and the Pope's Year of Jubilee before joining the popular young adults group of St George's. Members of the group tell Aled about the faith and fellowship they have found at the cathedral, and they share a special Easter reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. We celebrate the rare event of eastern and western Christians observing Easter on the same day in 2025 by visiting the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Holy Prince Lazar, also known as Lazarica, in Bournville. While standing amongst the beautiful frescoes in the church, the priest, Father Nenad, explains the deep meaning behind Orthodox Easter traditions, and a member of the church choir introduces an ancient Easter hymn. The programme includes a rich range of Easter music to celebrate the triumph of Jesus' resurrection. 1. Jesus Christ Is Risen Today - St George's Cathedral, Southwark 2. Battle Is O'er, Hell's Armies Flee - St George's Cathedral, Southwark 3. Vaskrsni Antifoni (Christ Has Risen) - Serbian Orthodox Church of the Holy Prince Lazar, Bournville 4. Now the Green Blade Riseth - Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, Suffolk 5. Thine Be the Glory - Canterbury Cathedral 6. Praise to the Holiest in the Height - St George's Cathedral, Southwark
